Our Opinion:-

Classic Tunnel style tent. Inner pitching first the Coleman Tasman Range are easy to pitch extended porch tunnel tents. Made by Coleman it features good ventilation to minimise condensation and a No-See-Um mesh to add to the ventilation and keep out the smallest of bugs.(Called midges in Scotland, they are also known as no-see-ums, sand flies, punkies, and other names in North America, and sandflies in Australia),Most manufacturers only use a courser mosquito net which will not keep out midges.

Coleman are also one of the few manufacturers that put a UV coating on the flysheet so they can give a stated UV protection factor of 50 against harmful UV rays. As well as providing UV protection to the occupants of the tent, it also ensures the Polyester fabric will last long because of the UV coating.

The Tasman range feature  mesh pole sleeves to prevent wind buffeting and Gothic shaped pole to give increased headroom & additional strength, features that are normally only found on higher spec tents costing more.

The front porch features toggle up groundsheet and 2 doors, to give the option of a sheltered entrance against prevailing winds.

Extremely good valve for money. extended porch for gear storage would be ideal for D of E expeditions as a budget option as long as the group spread the weight of the tent if walking.

What the manufacturer says:-

The perfect partner on multi-stop and weekend trips, the Tasman 3 has an aerodynamic, peaked-tunnel structure with a spacious bedroom and optimised head-height for extra comfort. The two doors in the porch increase pitching convenience and provide easier entry and exit.
With larger sleeping and living areas for increased comfort, the Tasman 3 and 4 are quick to pitch and offer superior weather protection.

Feature-Highlights on one view

WeatherTec™ - offering comfort and protection when enjoying the outdoors

A fabric's waterproof properties are measured using a rating called its hydrostatic head. If a tent has a hydrostatic head of 3000mm it means that a 3 metre column of water can be placed on its surface before any drops will show through the underside of the fabric. (The Ministry of Defence in the UK classifies fabric with a hydrostatic head of 800mm+ as waterproof).
There are many other factors which influence the performance of tent in tough weather conditions. Coleman use the latest technology and a rigorous testing regime to ensure that we keep you protected at all times - whatever the weather.

UV Guard™ Sun Protection

Certified laboratory testing proves Coleman® UVGuard™ protection fabrics with an SPF50 provide excellent protection against the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Proper use of sunscreen combined with shelters made with UVGuard™ protection fabric can go a long way in the battle against sunburn and UV exposure.

Fire Retardant - safety first

The fire retardant characteristic of our material ensures that the fabric will not flare dangerously out of control and will self extinguish, giving time to escape in the event of an emergency.

Fibreglass poles

Highly flexible and lightweight fibreglass poles guarantee a good response to wind and storms.

    Great tent

Posted by Sarah Clarke on 5th Jul 2020

Really pleased with my purchased as I really wanted a tent with a larger porch than my existing 2 man tent, yet lower than my four man tent and is not my folding camper! (I like kit...!) This delivers on that. With the free tarp as well, its a very good set up for two people and ok for three, although would be a bit snug personally. My only criticism is that the pins that go in the end of the poles was a right struggle! You could do yourself an injury that's for sure and possibly snap a pole section if not careful. I almost put it back in the bag and called OBI, BUT I really wanted this tent so just tried REALLY REALLY hard and they did go in. I did this by myself, which I needed to do, I think that the next time I pitch the tent it should be easier as the material should have stretched. It rained when I used the tent, I purposely camped in the rain to check this and it fared well. Damp did sit just inside the material but it did not leak as such, this really happens with every tent I've ever had you just don't touch it! Tent packs down really easy and you don't have to wrestle with a bag, it actually fits! I like that the inner tent and ground sheet are attached. Great tent for the money, great company to buy from. Thanks.

    Tasman 3 tent

Posted by Lisa Pawsey on 2nd Jun 2020

I like this tent. However, there are issues. Firstly, I had read the problems that the tent poles are too long. This is true. Trying to get the poles in is terrible. In fact, one pole snapped on the very first time of putting it up. There are no spare pole sections provided. However OBI were very good and helpful with this. This tent is fairly weighty. Its not for carrying in a backpack but does fit well on motorcycle, and the front porch section is perfect for storing bike gear. I just wish the poles were an inch shorter. I cannot imagine putting this up by oneself in rain or windy weather. Other than that, I am yet to test in bad weather, I like the tent. (OBI Responce - We always advice carrying Spare Poless & Know how to change them It can save yuor Holiday)
